Kids Cooking Thursday: $4 Kids Choice Biscuits

I got this great recipe off the Simple Savings members forums. It's been priced at $4 if you use the cheapest no name brand ingredients possible. (But then of course you still have to add the price of your mix ins!) But it can make over 120! (we didn't count them - nom nom nom!)

$4 biscuits
500g margarine
1 tin condensed milk
1 cup sugar
5 cups self-raising flour

Cream sugar and margarine. Add condensed milk and flour. Add mix ins. Roll into teaspoon sized balls and press down with a fork. Place on greased trays and bake in moderate oven until golden brown (approximately 10-15 minutes). The raw mixture can be frozen in balls, just thaw slightly before baking. We split our batch into three bowls, and everyone got to pick a flavour.

Miss Three had Smarties in hers

We baked two trays worth, with one row of each flavour per tray, and the rest I rolled in glad wrap for the fridge.

Refrigerator Rolls!

Once they had firmed up a bit, I threw them in the freezer. They'll be right to cook as normal once thawed.

Master Five hard at work mixing in his honeycomb

The honeycomb ones were the nicest. I think I could have added a touch of ginger to them too. Possibly more chocolate too, as the chocolate coating on the el cheapo honeycomb is a little stingy.

My Chocolate Chip & Cranberry

I might try making this with butter next time, so a slightly more expensive version.
Just to see if it makes it nicer - what's 50 cents between friends anyway?
